APT completed two phases of work associated with a tower replacement at the edge of an escarpment overlooking Deerfield, Massachusetts.  

APT conducted an independent structural review for a commercial wireless carrier on a proposed replacement tower designed to accommodate new equipment installations. The former tower had reached its maximum allowable capacity so a new 120’ tall, self-supported lattice replacement tower was planned for construction. APT completed Zoning and Construction Drawings for local municipal approval, and performed special inspections and materials testing in support of the proposed tower replacement and equipment relocation and collocation. Services included preparing Initial and Final Statements of Special Inspections, coordination of materials testing, observing rock anchor proof tests for the foundation system, and performing in-situ Special Inspections for the duration of tower construction-related activities. APT prepared subsequent structural analyses for colocations of several additional commercial wireless carriers’ equipment, including evaluations of combined twist and sway deformation limits.  

Subsequently, APT was contracted by a separate client to complete phased design and permitting services associated with improving the tower’s access road profile and drainage as the road had eroded to the point that the roads wearing surface had completed scoured away exposing underlying bedrock. The access way was impassable.  

APT prepared site grading and drainage improvement plans for a very steep existing 12’ wide, ±3,600’ long dirt/gravel road, which included the installation of water bars with plunge pools, rock lined ditches with rock dams, and culverts with flared end outlets.  

In addition to civil, structural and telecommunication engineering, APT’s services included community outreach, local permitting and coordinating with multiple tower tenants.
